Waxes like paraffin and beeswax differ in cost, beeswax cost a little bit more so you’ll need a little more start up cash to begin. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you can attract a upper echelon of customer that will be willing to pay more for your products.

Before starting out on your candle making business you’ll want to create a list of items that you’ll need to make your product. Some items that you’ll need are things like dyes, molds, wicks, a pan and beeswax or paraffin depending on which one you decide to go with. One thing to note about the molds that you’ll need is that they are typically the most costly of the items that you’ll need. In addition to your candle making supplies you’ll also need some basic items to run your business, keep track of expenses and inventory, for example a computer and some office supplies.

Making the candles is pretty simple and doesn’t take too long to get the hang of it. You can find many short classes that will help you get started in your craft. Check in your community newsletters and news papers you’ll be able to find some classes in there. Once you’ve had a class just try and experiment for yourself and you’ll see how simple it is. In this day and age there is also computer applications that will assist you in your candle making designs.

Remember you can make the greatest candles in the city but if you don’t know how to spread the word and market you’re business will go nowhere.

Getting the word out about your products and business if the best way and most common way for this type of business. Once you have a nice word of mouth going about your product you should start speaking to small craft shops to see if they would be interested in selling your products to expand you business.
